The Mount Mabu Time Loop (1950s): Portuguese colonial officers in Mozambique reported entering a dense forest on Mount Mabu and emerging into a village that appeared centuries older—thatched huts, people in pre-colonial attire, and no modern tools. After brief contact, they became disoriented and returned to find the village gone and time had jumped forward by hours. Local legends speak of the mountain as a place where time bends. Scientists attribute it to disorientation in dense terrain. Yet, the consistency of the reports and the mountain’s later discovery of unique biodiversity add a layer of mystery to this African temporal enigma.
