Tsetse Flies

The tsetse fly, native to sub-Saharan Africa, is a lethal vector of human and animal disease. Through its bite, it transmits trypanosomes—parasites that cause sleeping sickness in humans and nagana in livestock. This debilitating illness leads to neurological decline, coma, and death if untreated, making the tsetse fly a persistent socioeconomic and health threat in affected regions.
