The Grecian Girl (1969) On a remote Greek island, a teenage girl began exhibiting convulsions and speaking in deep, distorted voices during church services. Local priests attributed it to ancestral curses and performed a public exorcism witnessed by villagers. She screamed insults at clergy, predicted weather changes, and recited passages from the Quran despite no prior exposure. The ritual lasted three days and ended with her collapse and apparent recovery. The event reinforced traditional Orthodox beliefs in possession and is still recounted in regional sermons as a warning against spiritual neglect.
