The Stanley Hotel (Estes Park, Colorado) (1970s–present) Built in 1909, this grand hotel inspired Stephen King’s *The Shining* after he stayed in Room 217, where he reportedly heard phantom piano music and felt an unseen hand on his chest. Since then, staff and guests have reported apparitions of former owners F.O. and Flora Stanley, phantom footsteps, and disembodied laughter. Multiple investigations by TV crews and paranormal teams recorded EVPs and temperature drops. Though no single tragic event explains the activity, its high altitude and isolation may contribute to atmospheric phenomena. The hotel now embraces its haunted reputation with nightly ghost tours.
