Moonbows (Lunar Rainbows)

A moonbow is a rare atmospheric phenomenon, often called a lunar rainbow. It forms at night when moonlight, rather than sunlight, refracts through water droplets in the air. Because the light is much fainter, moonbows typically appear colorless to the naked eye, though long-exposure photography can reveal their subtle, ethereal colors. They are most often seen near waterfalls or during light rain opposite the full moon.
