The Javan Rhino (Rhinoceros sondaicus) is one of the world's rarest large mammals, with only about 75 individuals surviving in Ujung Kulon National Park, Indonesia. This critically endangered species is smaller than other rhinos, distinguished by its single horn and loose skin folds resembling armor. Once widespread across Southeast Asia, habitat loss and poaching have pushed it to the brink of extinction. Unlike other rhinos, Javan Rhinos are extremely shy and rarely seen. Conservation efforts focus on habitat protection and anti-poaching measures, as the species' tiny population makes it vulnerable to disease and natural disasters.
