The Eastern Brown Snake (Pseudonaja textilis) is one of the world's deadliest snakes, native to Australia and responsible for the majority of snakebite fatalities in the country. Highly venomous and fast-moving, its neurotoxic and coagulopathic venom can cause paralysis, uncontrollable bleeding, and death if untreated. Despite its name, it varies in color from light brown to almost black. Often found in populated areas, it adapts well to human-altered environments. Though generally shy, it becomes aggressive when threatened, striking repeatedly. Immediate medical treatment with antivenom is critical for survival.
