Mount Everest, the world's highest peak at 8,848 meters (29,029 feet) above sea level, stands as the ultimate symbol of mountaineering achievement. Located in the Mahalangur Himal sub-range of the Himalayas on the China-Nepal border, this iconic mountain was first summited by Sir Edmund Hillary and Tenzing Norgay in 1953.
