The Mine Disaster Warning (1908) A Pennsylvania coal miner named Tom Beale told coworkers he dreamed of a cave-in at their shaft two nights before it happened. He described the exact location broken timbers and trapped men. Supervisors ignored him. When the collapse occurred killing 14 it matched his description. Beale survived because he avoided the area. Investigators found no structural reports suggesting imminent failure. His dream was documented in local newspapers and later studied by psychical researchers. While chance or subconscious observation are possible the precise location and timing make it a compelling case within occupational hazard literature and anomalous cognition studies.
