Deathstalker Scorpion (Leiurus quinquestriatus): The deathstalker scorpion survives desert heat exceeding 45°C thanks to a waxy cuticle that minimizes water loss and reflects sunlight. It is nocturnal, hiding in burrows during the day to avoid extreme temperatures. Its metabolism slows in heat, reducing energy and water needs. It can endure long periods without food or water. Surprisingly, it is highly resistant to its own venom and some external toxins. Its exoskeleton provides protection from UV radiation. Found in North Africa and the Middle East, it uses heat-sensing organs to locate prey. This scorpion’s adaptations allow it to be both a resilient survivor and a potent predator in scorching environments.
