The disappearances of BSAA Star Tiger (1948) and Star Ariel (1949) remain among the Bermuda Triangle's most baffling aviation mysteries. These twin Avro Tudor IV passenger planes vanished without distress signals under clear weather conditions - Star Tiger during a short hop to Bermuda, Star Ariel en route to Jamaica. Despite massive search efforts, neither wreckage nor the 51 combined passengers/crew were ever found. Investigators proposed fuel exhaustion or instrument failure, but the planes' experienced crews and modern (for the era) equipment made these explanations unsatisfactory. These back-to-back losses of nearly identical aircraft from the same airline cemented the Bermuda Triangle's deadly reputation in aviation history.
